Frequently asked questions

Which version of Jira does Questlog work with?

Questlog is built for Jira Cloud. You open it from Apps → Questlog. Parties that follow a Scrum board’s sprints need Jira Software.

Can managers see who earned what?

No. Personal XP, gold and daily limits are visible only to the player. Admins see party totals, never per-person numbers, and there are no leaderboards. Inside a party, members do see each other’s characters, brew tries and toasts, because those are shared moments.

Does Questlog show how much time people log?

Never. Logging work earns XP, but the duration is only checked against the 15-minute minimum and is never stored or shown.

Does Questlog read our comments or issue titles?

It doesn’t store any Jira content. Comment text is measured for length (15 characters for XP) and discarded right away. Issue titles and descriptions are trimmed out of the events Questlog receives.

Can people farm XP?

Not much. Each action pays once per person per issue, ever, and every action has a daily cap. Automation rules, apps, bulk changes and imports earn nothing. And a party that games its own expedition only cheats itself.

What happens if an issue is reopened or a comment deleted?

Nothing: XP is final. Questlog is rewards-only, so it never takes XP away.

How is the party’s Effort target set?

From the party’s own history: its typical XP per member-day over the last six periods, times the days members are around this period, at 95%. New parties start with a deliberately reachable target. Away days and holidays lower it.

Can someone be in more than one party?

No, each person plays in one party at a time. Toasts can still go to people in other parties.

What size of team works best?

Real teams of 4 to 8. The settings page warns when a party grows past 10, because the brew and the tavern are designed for small groups.

Will Questlog change our issues?

No. Questlog only has read permissions in Jira. It listens to events and reads sprints for the boss, but it can’t edit issues.

Where is our data stored?

Questlog is built on Atlassian Forge and keeps its data in Forge-hosted storage within your Atlassian environment. It has no external servers and makes no external data egress calls.

What happens when someone leaves the company?

When Atlassian reports an account as closed, Questlog deletes that person’s character and personal game data. Party totals stay intact, without their name.

Who is Grum?

The bear who runs your tavern, sets the daily brew and comments on your choices. Grum is judging. Grum is always judging.
